HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M ELIGIBLE FOR TRAFFIC SCHOOL?
The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) generally allows a driver to attend traffic school once every eighteen months. The eighteen-month period is counted from the date you received the ticket to the date you receive the second ticket, not from the date you went to traffic school. Completing a DMV or Court-approved traffic school course, such as BESTtrafficschool.com, will erase your moving violation from your driving record.

HOW SOON BEFORE MY DUE DATE MUST I COMPLETE THE COURSE?
The answer to this will vary, depending on the requirements of the county in which you received your citation. In most cases, we STRONGLY recommend completing the course a minimum of 3 business days prior to your due date. However, the more time you give yourself, the better your chances for accounting for unpredictable complications. In ALL cases, the responsibility lies with YOU, the student, to get your certificate to the court on time. There are 2 possible scenarios:
- Your court allows us to send your Certificate of Completion DIRECTLY TO THE COURT. In this case, we strongly recommend completing the course a MINIMUM of 3 BUSINESS DAYS prior to your due date in order to ensure that they receive your certificate on time. Once you have completed the course, certificates will be mailed within 1-2 BUSINESS DAYS. You will be able to PRINT OUT a STUDENT COPY for your records from your personal computer.
- Your court requires that your certificate be delivered to the court directly from YOU. In this case, we will mail your certificate DIRECTLY TO YOU, and then it will be YOUR responsibility to get it to the court on time. A minimum of 3 business days prior to your due date is required, though we strongly recommend giving yourself even more time as your certificate needs to reach you before you can get it to the court. You will be able to print a STUDENT COPY for your records from your personal computer.

MY DUE DATE IS TODAY...CAN I STILL ENROLL IN THE COURSE?
YES... IF you are able to get an extension from your court. Many courts are willing to grant a ONE-TIME EXTENSION. Many times these extensions can be obtained over the phone. The only way to get an extension is to ask for one. Stop procrastinating! Call for that extension now.
*PLEASE NOTE that it is YOUR responsibility to get your certificate to the court on time. Waiting until the last day will require you to deliver your certificate to the court in person. This option isn't always feasible, especially if you received your ticket in a different city from where you live.

MY COURT REQUIRES THAT I HAVE MY IDENTITY VERIFIED BEFORE I TAKE MY FINAL QUIZ. IS THIS CONVENIENT? HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
MOST courts in California DO NOT require identity verification before taking the final quiz. However, some courts would like certainty that you are personally taking the course and not someone else on your behalf. For the few courts that do require identity verification, we have made the process very simple. At the end of the course you will have a choice between 2 options:
- VERIFICATION FROM YOUR OWN COMPUTER - This verification can be done without ever leaving your home. The verification is done through EXPERIAN, one of the 3 largest credit bureaus in the country. It is NOT a credit check. Experian simply pulls information from your credit history to ask you questions that only YOU will know the answer to.
- VERIFICATION AT A TESTING SITE - We have about 150 testing location across the state where you can show up in person to show your driver's license to a proctor who will then log you on to the internet to take your final quiz. To search for a testing site near you, CLICK HERE.

WHAT IS A CITATION NUMBER?
A Citation Number is a number the Court assigns to you and your violation. It may also be called a "Case Number" or a "Docket Number" and can usually be found on the top right corner of your court papers.

WHAT IF BESTtrafficschool.com IS NOT ON MY COURT'S LIST OF TRAFFIC SCHOOLS?
If BESTtrafficshool.com is not on your Court's list of traffic schools, it probably means that we do not have a formal agreement with your court at this time. Some courts only allow DMV approved traffic schools (the walk-in type). Some courts, however, will give a defendant permission to take a specific course if the defendant personally makes the request. ASK! They may allow you to take our course.

I PAID AN EXTRA FEE AT COURT, IN ADDITION TO THE BAIL AMOUNT FOR MY TICKET. DIDN'T THAT COVER THE COST FOR TRAFFIC SCHOOL?
No. The Court charges you a bail amount for the ticket, plus an additional administrative fee for the privilege of attending traffic school. The traffic school you choose charges it's own fee. IF MY DUE DATE FOR COMPLETING TRAFFIC SCHOOL HAS PASSED, CAN I GET AN EXTENSION?
Every Court has its own policies for granting extensions. Some will, some won't. Contact the traffic clerk of your court to find out if they grant extensions. If they don't, you're out of luck. If they do, you may be required to write a letter or appear in court to ask the judge in person. In either case, it's best not to miss your deadline!

IF I HOLD A COMMERCIAL LICENSE, AM I ELIGIBLE FOR TRAFFIC SCHOOL?
No. Drivers with a CLASS A, CLASS B, or COMMERCIAL CLASS C license are NOT ELIGIBLE for home study traffic school. On a California driver's license, the license class can be located in the upper right corner.
