HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M ELIGIBLE FOR TRAFFIC SCHOOL?
The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) generally allows a driver to attend traffic school once every eighteen months. The eighteen-month period is counted from the date you received the ticket to the date you receive the second ticket, not from the date you went to traffic school. Completing a DMV or Court-approved traffic school course, such as BESTtrafficschool.com, will erase your moving violation from your driving record.

HOW SOON BEFORE MY DUE DATE MUST I COMPLETE THE COURSE?
The answer to this will vary, depending on the requirements of the county in which you received your citation. In most cases, we STRONGLY recommend completing the course a minimum of 3 business days prior to your due date. However, the more time you give yourself, the better your chances for accounting for unpredictable complications. In ALL cases, the responsibility lies with YOU, the student, to finish the course early enough to get your certificate to the court on time. Depending on the COUNTY where you received your citation, there are 3 possible scenarios:
- Your court allows us to send your certificate of completion ELECTRONICALLY directly into the court's database. The court will have your completion information within minutes of your completion, therefore you can finish ON or BEFORE your due date and you will be given credit. You will be able to print a STUDENT RECEIPT for your records.
- Your court requires that we MAIL your certificate of completion directly to YOU. In this case, certificates are mailed the next business day after completion and sent DIRECTLY TO YOU. It will then be YOUR responsibility to get it to the court on time. Completing the course a minimum of 3 business days prior to your due date is recommended, though we strongly urge giving yourself even more time as your certificate needs to reach you before you can get it to the court. You will be able to print a STUDENT RECEIPT for your records.
- Your court requires that we FAX your certificate of completion directly to the court. In this case, you can finish the course ON or BEFORE your court-assigned due date. Certificates are faxed the next BUSINESS day after completion and will reflect the actual completion date. You will be able to PRINT OUT a STUDENT RECEIPT for your records.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION?
The answer to this will vary, depending on the requirements of the county in which you received your citation. In most cases, we STRONGLY recommend completing the course a minimum of 3 business days prior to your due date. However, the more time you give yourself, the better your chances for accounting for unpredictable complications. In ALL cases, the responsibility lies with YOU, the student, to get your certificate to the court on time. There are 3 possible scenarios:
- Your court requires ELECTRONIC submission of your certificate: In this scenario your certificate is submitted directly to the court instantly upon your completion. You will not receive a certificate, but you will be able to print a STUDENT RECEIIPT for your records. If you provide an e-mail address the court will send real-time updates about the status of your citation.
- Your court requires that we MAIL your certificate of completion DIRECTLY TO YOU: In this scenario, certificates are mailed out the next business day after your completion. It typically takes the U.S. Postal Service 2-3 business days to deliver mail in California. It is your responsibility to sign your original certificate and mail/deliver it to your court by your court-assigned due date. A student copy will be included for your records.
- Your court requires that we FAX your certificate directly to the court: In this scenario we FAX certificates directly to the court on the next BUSINESS day after completion. You will receive a copy of your certificate via e-mail along with instructions on how to check to the court's website to ensure that your citation has been dismissed.

MY DUE DATE IS TODAY...CAN I STILL ENROLL IN THE COURSE?
YES. If your citation was received in a county that allows for electronic or FAX submission of your certificate, you may enroll and complete the course, even if today is your due date. However you MUST complete the course prior to midnight PST.
If your citation was received in a county that requires we MAIL the certificate to you, you may still have an opportunity to take our course if you obtain an extension from your court. Many times these extensions can be obtained over the phone. The only way to get an extension is to ask for one. Stop procrastinating! Call for that extension now.
*PLEASE NOTE that it is YOUR responsibility to get your certificate to the court on time. Waiting until the last day will require you to deliver your certificate to the court in person. This option isn't always feasible, especially if you received your ticket in a different city from where you live.

MY COURT REQUIRES THAT I HAVE MY IDENTITY VERIFIED BEFORE I TAKE MY FINAL QUIZ. IS THIS CONVENIENT? HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
Not all, but some courts require I.D. Verification at the end of the course to ensure that you are the person attending our school and not someone else on your behalf. We make the process painless and simple for you by offering 2 convenient options:
- VERIFICATION ONLINE - This verification can be done from the comfort of your computer. The verification is done through EXPERIAN, one of the 3 largest credit bureaus in the country. It is NOT a credit check. At the end of the course you will click a link and provide some personal information on a secure connection. Experian simply pulls information from your credit history to ask you simple questions that only YOU will know the answers to.
- VERIFICATION IN PERSON - Download your final quiz. Appear before a Notary Public of your choice for I.D. Verification. Have the Notary place his or her stamp on your final quiz and then FAX to our office for grading.

WHAT IS A CITATION NUMBER?
A Citation Number is a number the Court assigns to you and your violation. It may also be called a "Case Number" or a "Docket Number" and can usually be found on the top right corner of your court papers.

WHAT IF BESTtrafficschool.com IS NOT ON MY COURT'S LIST OF TRAFFIC SCHOOLS?
If BESTtrafficshool.com is not on your Court's list of traffic schools, it probably means that we do not have a formal agreement with your court at this time. Some courts only allow DMV approved traffic schools (the walk-in type). Some courts, however, will give a defendant permission to take a specific course if the defendant personally makes the request. ASK! They may allow you to take our course.

I PAID AN EXTRA FEE AT COURT, IN ADDITION TO THE BAIL AMOUNT FOR MY TICKET. DIDN'T THAT COVER THE COST FOR TRAFFIC SCHOOL?
No. The Court charges you a bail amount for the ticket, plus an additional administrative fee for the privilege of attending traffic school. The traffic school you choose charges it's own fee. Every Court has its own policies for granting extensions. Some will, some won't. Contact the traffic clerk of your court to find out if they grant extensions. If they don't, you're out of luck. If they do, you may be required to write a letter or appear in court to ask the judge in person. In either case, it's best not to miss your deadline!
